Etsy Eight: August

Emma Frankart Henterly

Etsy is a go-to resource for many couples planning their weddings. But did you know that you can shop handmade and local? Check out our top Etsy picks for this month, all from shop owners based right here in Columbus. This month, we’re having a real moment with all things boho and leafy and viney and floral. (Well, the “floral” bit is pretty much a constant, but you get the idea.) So we figured, why not have a theme to get us through the last dog days of August?

Kick things off with a leaf motif wax seal for your invitations. It’s such a tiny detail—and ultimately an inexpensive one, if you go the DIY route—but packs a massive punch in creating a luxe finish. This self-sticking version comes with silvery metallic envelopes in quantities of 25. Choose from sage green, gold or blush for the seal itself.

Moving into the fashion realm, we can always count on Etsy for a perfect hair vine / flower crown / whimsical headband. This light gold and crystal version can be worn as a headband with the included ribbons, or as a hair vine in the back to accentuate an up- or down-do.

We couldn’t leave out the guys on this one! But, given that the Buckeyes’ kick off their season tomorrow, we thought we’d play on this week’s nature theme just a bit. Enter: wooden O-H, I-O state-shaped cufflinks! Show your school spirit with reserved style by sporting these cherry wood cufflinks on your big day.

What’s a boho floral roundup without a flower girl hoop, amiright? Seriously though, this take on the posy alternative is all the rage right now, from flower girls to wall décor and beyond. In fact, you can do just that with this piece: Have your gal carry it down the aisle, then pop it on a hook behind the head table for a dreamy decorative touch. And because the flora is faux, you can also hang it in your home for years to come.

Shifting fully into décor—the natural place for All Things Floral and Leafy—let’s talk about this welcome sign. Loose watercolors, gold geometric accents, whimsical script … this thing is so on-trend, it almost hurts. It’s a downloadable template, giving you freedom to print at your convenience, this piece is also on sale right now!

Perfect for draping along a mantel or over a ceremony arch, this realistic faux-boxwood and silver dollar eucalyptus garland is another great piece that can transition from your wedding to your home. It measures 5.5 feet long and is as versatile as your creativity allows it to be. Don’t believe us? Check out the sample photos on the item’s page.

We couldn’t leave out a classic macramé plant holder! Use these to hang potted succulents (not included) from tree branches for an outdoor event, or from exposed wood beams for that perfect rustic—but not too rustic—touch.  It’s made from 100 percent cotton rope and measures 22 inches long, including the tassel.

Now, on to dessert. Again playing off the wood aspect of our nature-esque motif, this custom cake topper’s handwritten calligraphy style is the perfect complement to an all-white cake accented with simple greenery. You can opt for the natural wood finish, or choose from an acrylic finish in white, pink, blue, black, rose gold mirror, gold mirror or silver mirror. Choose a single word or up to three for your customization.
