Here's one of the outtakes from our Fall 2019 issue cover shoot. Our adorable model is Alyssa Gallucci, 5, who's the daughter of Dispatch Magazines advertising manager Holly Gallucci and her husband, Rick Gallucci Jr.

Central Ohio has a seemingly endless array of options for family-friendly entertainment, dining and places to play. There are so many choices that sometimes, it’s hard to decide.

Enter the Columbus Parent 2019 Family Faves. For the ninth year, we polled readers for their opinions on the best family-friendly businesses, dining, activities and events the Columbus area has to offer. The result: 263 parent-tested, kid-approved recommendations you can use. This year’s survey recognizes 40 winners, 80 runners-up and 143 honorable mentions in a wide variety of categories.

Looking for a new Latin restaurant? We’ve got you covered. Do you shop for children’s clothing at resale stores? Our readers chose their top five. Don’t miss the other 38 categories, including music and sports instruction, indoor and outdoor play places and more. Check out the winners and plan your next outing after reading the Family Faves story.

Frequent readers may have noticed we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, we put a different twist on the usual celebration story, focusing on how parenting has evolved in the last three decades rather than taking a walk down memory lane with an overview of the magazine’s evolution. Freelance writer Chuck Nelson talked with a mom who had her first baby in 1989 and her now-30-year-old daughter, who has a baby of her own. It’s a fun look at how paternal involvement, baby gear and sleep advice have changed.

Other must-reads include a feature on longtime publisher Highlights for Children Inc. Find out how CEO Kent Johnson is keeping the company relevant.

We also have the annual Private Schools Guide, with listings for 53 Central Ohio programs; a new partnership with Top Doctors, listing 145 of the area’s best physicians for children; and a Q&A with Molly Mitchell, the mother of three children and wife of restaurateur Cameron Mitchell.

Looking for seasonal events and activities? The Go-To Guide highlights 23 spots for Fall Family Fun, and our travel story scopes out some of the top places to view fall foliage.

Whatever your family’s interests and budget, this issue has something for everyone.

Thanks for reading!
