Real Wedding Wednesdays: Nitina Kolliesuah and Jamaal Francis

Emma Frankart Henterly

Nitina and Jamaal Francis go way back … like way, way back.

“Our dads are friends, so we’ve always known each other,” Nitina says. “We connected after I graduated from college, at my graduation party.”

Six years later, Jamaal took Nitina to the Wexner Center for the arts. At the final exhibit, they encountered a sign asking her to marry him.

On the wedding day itself, Nitina says the most memorable aspects for her were “the calm feeling we had [and] how beautiful everything looked.” That’s not to say the day went off without a hitch, however. “We had to do the last part of the ceremony over,” she explains, “because we forgot to light the unity candle!”
