Perkins Observatory hosts a variety of public programs throughout the year.

Perkins Observatory on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus is set to kick off its 2020 schedule of events. The public programs, designed to educate visitors of all ages about astronomy and the night sky, generally occur on Friday evenings.

Tickets cost $10 per person and are available by calling 740-363-1257. Programs take place rain or shine, and organizers are prepared for overcast skies or inclement weather. However, telescope viewing is offered only if weather permits.

Fall and winter program dates, all of which start at 8 p.m., are: Jan. 24 and 31; Feb. 7, 21 and 28; March 6, 13, 20 and 27; April 3, 17 and 24; Sept. 11, 18 and 25; Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30; Nov. 6, 13 and 20; and Dec. 4 and 11.
