Video: Robots Help Special Needs Students
Associate photo editor Rob Hardin took this video of a telepresence robot from Assistive Technology of Ohio in action. The robots, which feature an iPad on a wheeled stand, give students a way to participate in classes they are unable to attend in person, as program director Bill Darling demonstrates in this clip, taken at the organization’s offices at Ohio State University.
The robots are controlled remotely with another iPad using a program similar to FaceTime, which allows students to move them around the classroom and even down the hall.
