Real Wedding Wednesdays: Kelly Stiebler and Harrison Davis

Nothing brings Ohioans together like being outside of the Buckeye State. At least that’s the case for newlyweds Kelly and Harrison Davis. The couple met through a mutual friend at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, before teaming up on the school’s Ultimate Frisbee team and becoming good friends. “Our friendship truly serves as the foundation of our relationship,” Kelly says. “Over the course of five years, we grew in love, loyalty and friendship over long distances and through new jobs, cities and experiences.”

Five years of dating culminated in Harrison’s intimate proposal at a Washington, D.C., park the day before New Year’s Eve in 2018. Coupled with the friend-filled New Year’s celebration to round out the occasion, the proposal is what Kelly calls “the best way to end the year.”

The pair’s magical day came beneath sunshine and clear skies the weekend of their six-year anniversary. Friends and family made their ceremony and reception what it was, Kelly says, and she’s not speaking in platitudes. Kelly’s mother sewed table runners, sisters designed wedding invites and decorations, brothers recorded the couple’s first dance song and friends made wedding signs. “It was a true act of love and kindness, and we were so lucky to have support from so many people in bringing our vision to life,” Kelly says. “Our day was not only a celebration of our union, but of those who loved us along the way.”

As personal touches, Kelly wore the veil her sisters had worn in their weddings and pearl earrings Harrison gifted her on their first anniversary.
