It may sound a bit like a pretentious European castle, but Fancyburg Park's two age-specific playgrounds make this 25-acre park all fun and games for playgroups, birthday parties and parents trying to expend as much of their child's energy as possible before naptime.

With a handicap-accessible ramp that allows little legs to race to the three mini-slides on their own, the toddler playground offers younger kids a taste of independence. After exhausting the slides, your little balls of energy will still have insect-themed spring riders, baby swings, a playhouse and tunnel maze to explore.

Too big for baby swings? The larger playground offers big-kid swings, a climbing wall, rocket-spring bouncer and giant play structure with a story-high covered slide and lower open slide for the more cautious. The location next to the toddler area means that parents need to watch younger kids carefully - the sky-high slide looks awfully enticing to a 2-year-old daredevil.

There are plenty of benches located around the playgrounds as well as restrooms close enough that a "having too much fun" accident is less likely. Be sure to bring hand sanitizer with you on a potty break, however, because there's a head-scratching lack of soap dispensers.

With plenty of drinking fountains, parking, picnic tables and even quite a few leashed furry friends to pet as they pass through on their way to the dog park, Fancyburg Park is a great place to spend a (not-so) lazy summer day.
