Aquarium Adventure

Debbie Angelos

It may not be your typical "play place," but, with a little imagination, Aquarium Adventure can take your kids on an international sea-life expedition without ever leaving suburbia. Best of all, the management welcomes these kinds of visits.

This spacious aqua-oasis is located in the Sawmill Place shopping center at the northeast corner of the Dublin-Granville and Sawmill roads intersection. The store offers quite a few kid- and play-friendly features, from the large stone koi pond to the nine rows of tanks filled with vibrantly colored fish.

Your little ones will not only find Nemo, but thousands of his fishy friends. Swimming species from Africa, Asia, South America and the Pacific show off an array of stunning spots, stripes and sparkles, while the Touch-Me Tide Pool offers little hands a chance to get up close with starfish, urchins, crabs, anemones and more.

Don't miss the center display of fresh- and saltwater tanks where you can find large creatures lurking below the surface, including sting rays, piranhas, a moray eel, band shark and a batfish named Wanda (naturally).

Kids will love checking out the tank decorations including pint-sized pirate ships, skulls and whimsical creatures. There are quite a few breakable items, however, so it's best to keep a close eye on little wanderers. Want to learn more about an aqua friend? Take a stop at the mini-library where visitors can pick a book from the wall bookcase and snuggle up on a comfy chair to read.
