Farm and nature guides are needed at Stratford Ecological Center. A two-part training session will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Simplicity Circle, 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month. First experience is free; then it's $10 a person or $20 a family.

Green Families, 6:30-8 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. On Sept. 2, bring a hat and dress for dirt. Group is for those who value simplicity, green living and conscious parenting.

Fiber Circle, 6-8 p.m. On the first Thursday of even months. Bring a project (felting, spinning, knitting, quilting, etc.).

Herbal study group meets 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday. Explore the uses of wild and cultivated plants. First experience is free, then $10 for the year.

Women of the Earth retreat, 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 through 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. Renew your connection with nature and other women. $120. The reservation deadline is Aug. 29.

Healthy Children-Healthy Planet eight-week discussion course, 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 16 through Nov. 4. Explore how the effects of advertising, media and our consumer culture can influence a child's view of the world. This class inspired the Green Families group. Cost is $25 for the book.

Harvest Fair, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. Family-centered fair features puppet shows, entertainers and storytellers; kites, stilts, face painting, a giant earth ball and many other activities. Cost is $5 adults; $3 children 2-12.
