Wannabe pirates need to head to the Santa Maria Sept. 15 and 16 when the local attraction celebrates the scoundrels of the sea.

During the Talk like a Pirate Weekend, interpreters will offer historic information about pirates and their way of life. Visitors also can tour the ship, which is a replica of the flagship Christopher Columbus took on his historic voyage to the Americas.

The highlight of the event will be a pirate attack at 2 p.m. each day. Pirates will storm with ship with lots of gun fire and canon shots.

Admission to the Santa Maris is $3.50 for children ages 5 to 17, $4.50 for adults and $4 for senior citizens. Children four and younger are free. The Santa Maria is located at Battelle Riverfront Park, 25 Marconi Blvd., Columbus.
