Jeni's Pumpkin Tiramisu Parfait

Got to sample the super limited-edition new Jeni's sundae tonight at The Hills Market's Fall Family Fund Dinner with Jeni, part of Local Matters' Local Foods Week (plus got a chance to chat with Jeni Britton Bauer herself for a bit!). An autumnal take on a classic dessert, the Pumpkin Tiramisu Parfait combines the new Buttercup Pumpkin & Amaretti Cookies ice cream with Jeni's signature Black Coffee ice cream and some from-scratch Marsala Caramel sauce-soaked cake, mascarpone and dark chocolate shavings. On top, of course, is one of the perfectly fantastic Jeni's cherries. The pumpkin pairs surprisingly well with the coffee, making for a tasty fall treat that's definitely worth seeking out.

We just got a sample-sized serving of the parfait at the Hills event, but starting first thing Friday morning, you'll be able to buy traditional versions of the sundae at all Central Ohio Jeni's locations--until the sundae components run out, that is.

Besides the Jeni's parfait, we had quite a delicious and kid-friendly feast at the Hills dinner. House-made chicken tenders made with Gerber chicken from Kidron, rosemary-flecked sweet potato wedges and some great made-from-scratch Ohio apple sauce, plus Ohio wines from Kinkead Ridge. Yum.

If you didn't make it out to the Hills Market tonight, you have one more chance before Local Foods Week comes to an end. The Worthington market is one half of Saturday's Market to Market bike ride. Grab breakfast at either the Hills or North Market, and then hit the Olentangy River Greenway and bike to the other market. Hills Market will be hosting Ohio Market Day all afternoon, while North Market will host the annual Harvest Festival.
