Scarlet & Grey at Hyde Park Steakhouse

Ever since being wowed by the Bone Marrow appetizer at Sage this summer, I've been on the lookout for dishes that come out of the kitchen with similarly impressive, Flintstone-like bones. And last night, I found one. Oh, did I find one. The long-bone ribeye at the chic Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse on the Cap, aka the Scarlet & Grey steak.

A massive, three-inch-thick Kobe beef steak is served on the bone, a bone that extends nearly a foot from the meat. This thing is, in a word, impressive. (Oh, and it's priced to match: $79.)

The steak actually looks relatively teensy in that top photo, but trust me, it's huge. Here it is in its full glory:

I split this with someone, and we still had about a third left. It's topped with a bit of melted butter and served with onion straws. It was cooked perfectly, lightly charred and just delicious. This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime-type dishes, the kind of thing you to celebrate some momentous occasion. And when you do, it will be worth it.
