Funniest Dine Originals Week menu = Surly Girl

Shelley Mann, Columbus Alive

OK, so I just have to share the awesome menu the folks at Surly Girl Saloon have devised for this week's Dine Originals Week (p.s., yes, this week is Dine Originals Week!). The crew there, led by co-owner Carmen Owens and chef Lara Ranallo, always come up with something creative, but this year they outdid themselves. The name alone is golden: the Bill Murray vs. Kathy Bates Celebrity Death Match !!! menu. Now, to be fair, some of these dishes are just Surly Girl standards given a fun new name. But I will admit to giggling as I read this menu, and what else can you ask for?

I'll share more of my favorite menus throughout the week as I check out some of the offerings, and you can view the full list of special, discounted menus right here.

Without further ado, here's the Surly menu in all its glory:

FIRST COURSE (select one):

--The Life Aquatic Crab Dip: warm and creamy cayenne-lime crab dip served with tortilla chips and cucumber slices

--Not-So-Fried Green Tomatoes: Battered and baked green tomatoes topped with a blend of melted cheeses, served over a bed of mixed greens and a drizzle of lemon-horseradish cream sauce

SECOND COURSE (select two):

--Garfield's Pumpkin Lasagna: filled with sauteed mushrooms, zucchini and yellow squash in a pumpkin cream sauce topped with melted six-cheese blend, served with focaccia bread and house balsamic vinaigrette

--Stripes Salad: bed of mixed greens patriotically topped with blue cheese, strawberries, blueberries, red onions and a six-cheese blend, served with focaccia bread and a house balsamic vinaigrette

--Number One Fan: food-long hot dog smothered in your choice of meat or veggie chili sprinkled in cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.

--The Waterboy's Surly Jambalaya: our own surly, saucy and spicy blend of chicken, chorizo, shrimp, tomatoes, onions and peppers over a bed of yellow rice

THIRD COURSE (select two):

--What About Cupcakes?: sorry, Bob, our cupcakes have as many personalities as you do. Look for our featured cupcake of the day, inspired by Bill Murry or Kathy Bates films, or try one of our always-classy Red Carpet Red Velvets with Cream Cheese Frosting.
