Saddle up to the bar Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. for retail pricing on wine and beer and a special tavern menu of seasonal inexpensive eats. Just ask for the vegetarian tavern menu.In the past, tavern specials have included ramen with house-made noodles and Spatzle Gratin, a noodle dumpling with Swiss cheese.

Located directly in the center of the Venn diagram that conjoins beer geeks and vegans, Hal & Al’s offers happy hour specials to satisfy the meat-free (and dairy-free) hordes every night of the week.

Slurp down specialty beers while eating vegan sushi on Thursdays or enjoy $1 tacos from 8 p.m. to midnight on Wednesdays. And whatever you do, don’t miss the fried avocados.

Downtown Columbus’ favorite hotel restaurant hosts one of the best vegetarian-friendly happy hours in the city from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Their flatbreads and small plates (basically, the best parts of the menu) are buy one, get one free while select pints are $3.

The menu is ever-changing but the flatbreads (elongated thin-crusted pizzas) are a good bet. Bonus: they often feature locally sourced ingredients.
