Crepes at Cookie Cravings

Shelley Mann, Columbus Alive

What did it take to finally get me to remember to check out the lunchtime crepes at Cookie Cravings Bakery, a cute new spot in Italian Village? This: Pork Cheek Cuban (made with Bluescreek Farm pork cheeks!) with Dijon, Swiss and pickled veggies. Yeah, I saw that Facebook post and hightailed it over the very next day. And now I'm just regretting all the lunchtime crepes I didn't eat there.

This tiny bakery turns out quarter-pound cookies in fun flavors like Blueberry Goat Cheese and Milk Chocolate Pretzel, plus kitschy iced cookies in seasonal or hipster-friendly designs (moustaches!). You can order cookies by the box, or just drop in for a cookie and some Thunderkiss coffee to go.

And in between all that cookie making, owner Matt Tewanger, an experienced chef, whips up savory and sweet seasonal crepes to order on a couple of crepe griddles. My Cuban crepe was oh so good, with pork cheek and pickled veggies making an excellent stand-in for the typical roast pork and dill pickles. Follow their Facebook page to keep up with the daily offerings.
