Dine Originals 10 highlights

Dine Originals Columbus is pulling out all the stops for its 10-year anniversary. Instead of their typical restaurant week, they're throwing a 10-day celebration (running March 11-20) filled with tastings, wine dinners, cooking classes and eating contests.

Each Dine Originals restaurant (all 49 of them) has crafted its own distinct offering, and while many restaurants stuck with the traditional three-course meals, some of them got pretty creative. I am suitably impressed. Here's what I'm most excited for:

--Alana's, typically open only for dinner, is doing its first-ever lunch on Friday, March 15 (three courses for $20).

--Black Creek Bistro (whose fantastic desserts are pictured here) is one of many restaurants offering wine dinners and tastings. An Italian wine dinner on March 12 will include five wines paired with courses from their growing regions, and a tasting on March 17 will include 10 wines plus live entertainment.

--Bodega has a five-course Bells beer pairing dinner planned for March 14, with fab-sounding courses like braised rabbit ravioli and strawberry shortcake beignets.

--Dirty Frank's is challenging diners to eat a one-pound hot dog topped with sriracha, sauerkraut and jalapenos in 15 minutes for a chance to win a T-shirt.

--At Hubbard Grille, each day will bring a different $10 supper special designed by the restaurant's new culinary director, Connor O'Neill. The lineup sounds great, especially a fried duck and waffle special on March 12.

--Rigsby's Kitchen has several promotions, including a night of lobster-centric dishes March 14 and a Grilled Cheese Happy Hour (with sandwiches made using Eleni-Christina bread, natch) March 20.

--You have to order one to two days in advance, but The Top Steak House is doing three delightful non-steak features: a roasted hog's head that can serve four people, a standing rib roast that can serve 2-10, and a New England Lobster Boil that can serve 2-6. Wow!
