Shelley Mann, Columbus Alive

Jan. 26, 2013: Scottish food and drink aficionados gathered at Barley's Smokehouse for the 14th-annual Robert Burns Dinner and tapping of the brewery's Robert Burns Scottish Export Ale. Burns suppers are a beloved tradition typically celebrated on the birthday of the Scottish poet. Haggis-essentially a giant sausage historically prepared in, um, a sheep's stomach-is immortalized in one of Burns' poems, so that dish serves as the supper's centerpiece. The folks at Barley's throw a heck of a party to celebrate each year, and this year's raucous evening filled with Scotch and Scottish-style beer was no exception.
