Taste Test: Ohio chip dips

Shelley Mann, Columbus Alive

We taste-tested three Ohio-made chip dips, scooping them up with marcelled potato chips from Ballreich's in Tiffin.

Toasted Garlic Horseradish Dip

Robert Rothschild Farm (Urbana)

Garlic lovers will adore this flavorful dip, which would also make a fantastic sauce for a roast beef sandwich. It's pungent roasted garlic paired with kicky fresh horseradish, so a little goes a long way. $8 at Hills Market.

Green Olive & Pimento Cheese Dip

Taste Weavers (Urbana)

Tastes like a martini in dip form. Pimento-stuffed olives are the most prevalent garnish for those classic gin cocktails, and that's what this chunky dip immediately brought to mind. $9 at Hills Market.

Zesty Onion Dip

Smith's Dairy (Orrville)

This is a great, classic rendition of that crave-inducing, potato-chip-pairing onion dip we all know and love. Smith's uses real sour cream for a nice homemade taste. $4 at Hills Market.
