Due Amici's Lamb Bacon Mac-N-Cheese

Shelley Mann, Columbus Alive

It's that in-between time of year when a lot of restaurants haven't yet switched over from their fall/winter menus to their spring/summer ones. So I'm recommending Due Amici's gloriously decadent mac and cheese as a try-it-while-you-can treat.

This pasta has a yummy smoked cheddar cream sauce, but the real draw is crumbled lamb bacon--smoked and cured lamb meat that has a distinctive, delicious flavor. That's supplemented by hunks of roasted pumpking and cipollini onion (and those seasonal accompaniments are why I'm assuming it'll disappear once a new menu rolls out).

Classified as an appetizer, this dish is portioned for splitting. I enjoyed sharing it with some warm-weather appropriate cocktails (Palomas made with fresh grapefruit juice!) during an extended patio session earlier this week. Beeline over there yourself and do the same.
