New 'Oyster Hour' at 89 Fish & Grill

Anthony Dominic, Crave

Calling all seafood lovers: You can now trade in your usual pub grub for a new lineup of oysters, appetizers and cocktails at 89 Fish & Grill. From 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, the Arena District eatery is offering East and West coast oysters for $1.50 apiece, which you can order with cornmeal dusting or executive chef John Beck's new Bacon Tabasco Butter.

Several staple appetizers are also available for $7, like the Fried Oyster Sliders, Hot Crab Dip and "Angry" Mussels steamed in jalapeno broth. To wash it all down, there are $3 beers and $5 select cocktails and wine pours.

"For us, the freshness is key," Beck says. "Literally every day I'm getting oyster orders flown in."

If you're not sure where to start, Beck recommends following your taste buds. "The East coast [oysters] are bigger and saltier, where the West coast, in general, have a cucumber, melon-y flavor and are a little bit more mild and smaller."
