Cheap Eats: Pizza by the Slice
Columbus might not be a pizza capital like New York or Chicago (at least not yet), but we're certainly building an army of quality contenders. There are plenty of places to grab a whole pie, but if all you crave is a slice or two, here are a few quick-and delicious-options.
Elbow up to the bar in Meister's for a cold craft beer and a fresh slice of New York-style pie. Try the Classic ($2.50) for a taste of their homemade meatballs (they make their own sausage, too), pepperoni and mushrooms. Or try the simple-yet-tasty White Meister. Stop by on Mondays for $1 slices. 1168 Chambers Rd., Grandview, 614-725-1131
A Slice of New York
This High Street storefront stands out from the crowd thanks to the soaring pizza dough visible through the windows. Crusts are hand-tossed before they're baked for a crispy base dense enough to stand up to the house-made sauce and layered toppings. Try one of their classic combinations-starting at $2.50-or create your own. 1812 N. High St., Campus, 614-294-1011, osusliceofnewyork.com
Mikey's Late Night Slice
Nothing but an order window and a few ovens, these curbside shacks sell $3 slices ideal for the post-bar munchies. For those who need more substance, such exists the Cheezus Crust, melted American cheese sandwiched between two slices. Take your meal to go, but don't forget to smother it in tangy Slut Sauce first.
