James Beard dinner returns to Gallerie

Beth Stallings, Columbus Crave

For the second year, Gallerie Bar & Bistro inside the Hilton Downtown will host some of the Great Lakes' region's best chefs for a collaborative dinner. The six-course dinner and wine pairings on Dec. 10 is part of the James Beard Foundation's Celebrity Chef Tour-an extension of the famed James Beard House in New York City. Until last year, the celebrity chef tour had never come to Ohio.

"It's an incredible opportunity for the city to host an event to bring in some of the top chefs in the Midwest, and collaborate on a dinner together," says host chef Bill Glover of Gallerie. "It's really about bringing attention to Columbus and what we are doing as a city. We have some really talented people, and I'm proud to be a part of it."

Each chef will prepare one course of the progressive meal. Aside from being assigned a main ingredient (think poultry, crustacean, bivalve and so on), each chef has free creative rein, and Glover says to expect individual style shine through. Wine pairings will be done by Columbus Sommelier Matt Citriglia who has selected boutique wines "that aren't your everyday pours," Glover says. During the 6 p.m. cocktail hour, Travis Owens from Curio will create a Watershed-inspired cocktail and hors d'oeuvres will be made by the Gallerie culinary team.

Only 100 tickets will be sold for the $170 per person dinner. Tickets can be purchased here.
