One early breakfast standout is the Vrunchwrap, a fully addictive, plant-based take on Taco Bell’s Breakfast Crunchwrap, featuring Just Egg, vegan chorizo, cheddar and Sriracha aioli pressed inside a tortilla.

Alchemy Café and Alchemy Kitchen

Alchemy Café has been a pioneer of healthful eating (read: açai bowls, smoothies and avocado toast) along Parsons, which is now home to a growing list of plant-based restaurants. The Chunky Monkey bowl features açai, peanut butter, cacao nibs, banana, maple syrup, almond milk, coconut and crumbled no-bake cacao bites. It’s a vegan/gluten-free bowl fit for Elvis, minus the bacon.

At this adorable vegan diner from Portia Yiamouyiannis, owner of Portia’s Café, you get the greasy-spoon feel without the grease. Grab one of the retro Formica tables and tuck into the large breakfast bowl. This flavor-packed medley combines tofu eggs, greens, sautéed veggies, vegan smoked Gouda, home fries, sour cream and plant-based sausage and bacon. Similar ingredients also show up in the grilled breakfast burrito.

Vegan and vegetarian options abound at The Shops on Lane Avenue’s wellness-minded restaurant. Don’t sleep on the Overnight Oats, a vegan option featuring a healthy portion of rolled oats topped with apricot and cherry compote, soaked almonds, fresh apples and dried fruit. For something savory, the vegetarian Eggs Casablanca (think: shakshuka) is another standout option.
