Lazer Kraze

Laser tag, inflatables and arcade games? What more could you want in a birthday party?

After opening successful locations in Cincinnati and Kentucky, Robin Wilcox brought Lazer Kraze to Columbus three years ago, and the Lewis Center family fun center is a hotspot for birthday celebrations.

"Laser tag is great because you can bring your whole family and all ages can play together," Wilcox said. "There's nobody like us for laser tag - we work hard to provide great service."

WHAT: Lazer Kraze

WHERE: 459 Orange Point Drive, Lewis Center 43035

WHY: Let kids bounce around and blow off steam with a variety of activities. Lazer Kraze has laser tag, inflatables (which Wilcox says are geared toward older kids due to some height restrictions - they vary from a minimum of 42 inches to 48 inches, based on the particular inflatable) and several party rooms where groups can gather for food, cake and opening of presents.

COST: Choose from three different birthday party options, which range from $159 to $250. There's an additional cost for add-ons like pizza, goodie bags, game tokens and balloons. Each party requires a non-refundable deposit of $75.

*Laser Tag Party, $159: This package lasts just under two hours and up to 10 guests get two laser tag games. Want to invite more kids? No problem - it's $16 per additional player. And for those craving more laser tag, extra games are $5 per player.

*Laser Tag and Inflatable Combo Open-play Party, $159: Up to 10 guests will get 30 minutes in the inflatable room plus one game of laser tag. As with the Laser Tag Party, it's $16 per additional player.

*Laser Tag and Inflatable Combo Private Party, $250: You'll receive the same benefits as the Combo Open-play party, but it includes up to 16 children and the 30 minutes in the inflatables is just for you and your group.

*Ultimate Inflatable Open-play Party, $159: One hour in the inflatables room for up to 15 guest (add $10 per each additional guest).

*Ultimate Inflatable Private Party, $250: You'll receive the same benefits as the Inflatable Open-play party, but it includes up to 25 guests and the one hour in the inflatables in just for you and your group.

WHEN: Parties can be scheduled for any day of the week, even during times and days when they are closed to the public, and Wilcox recommends calling three to four weeks in advance to book. While booking is only done via phone, there is an online request form that streamlines the process when you call.

WHAT THE VENUE PROVIDES: Lazer Kraze provides the party space and any games that are part of the party package you choose. With all party packages, groups receive unlimited soft drinks and a party coach to help guide the group. Plus, the birthday child will receive a T-shirt and a pass for a future laser tag experience.

WHAT YOU PROVIDE: Lazer Kraze allows groups to bring their own cake, and they'll even provide the plates and utensils. You'll also provide invitations and goodie bags (unless you choose them as an add-on).

OTHER DETAILS: While there are no age restrictions on who can play laser tag, Wilcox recommends that if the birthday child is younger than 7, parents bring them in for a test run to make sure they're not afraid of the dark room.
