Moxie's Gifts, Candy and Party Room
Mary Rodgers understands people have different reasons for renting a party room.That's why she tries to be as flexible as possible with the party hosts who rent the Moxie's party room attached to her Clintonville candy and gift shop. She will just rent the space or she will plan the entire party, including food, decorations and goody bags. The venue is available for everything from kids' parties to bridal showers.
"Every time we think we should make a rule, we try to think of reasons not to," said Rodgers. "We want to be flexible and affordable for our hostesses."
WHAT: Moxie's Gifts, Candy and Party Room is a centrally located venue offering custom party themes. Rodgers will work with hosts and children to develop a party around any idea. "If your child wants a garden Bubble Guppies tea, kittens in space or a dinosaur construction theme party, we will do it," she said.
WHERE: 3468 N. High St., Clintonville 43214. Moxie's has off-street parking behind the store.
WHY: Hosting a party outside your home often allows you to invite more guests, eliminates the need to clean your house and provides the opportunity for party-planning help.
COST: Moxie's offers two rooms.
*Party Room A rents for $65 an hour and can accommodate 36 guests.
*Party Room B rents for $50 an hour and can accommodate 24 guests.
The venue also has loft space that can be added to the larger room to allow for 16 more guests. There is no minimum rental time, but hosts need to include time for party setup and cleanup if they are handling those tasks.
Moxie's prorates by the half-hour. In order to reserve a room, customers must pay a nonrefundable deposit equal to one hour of room rental.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: Place settings starting at 80 cents per person, candy-themed party favors starting at 75 cents, invitations starting at $1.25 each and snacks/beverages starting at $6 per person.
WHAT THE VENUE PROVIDES: All parties are customized. Hosts can do as much or as little as they like. The rooms come furnished with dining tables, chairs, buffet tables, tablecloths (your choice: black, white or pink) and access to the supply closet (ice bucket, small coffee maker, microwave, runners, centerpiece mirrors, etc.).
WHEN: The venue is available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
OTHER INFORMATION: Rodgers recommends booking at least three to five weeks in advance.
