Pretty, Pretty Princess

Back in the fall of 2014, a family friend asked Grove City teen Sydney Hicks if she would dress up as the Disney princess Elsa for a child's birthday party. She said yes and even enlisted her friend, Madison Parish, to appear as the character's sister, Anna.

The girls found they loved playing the roles from the popular filmFrozenand they also loved being part of a child's birthday. When other families requested princess visits, they readily agreed.

"At the end of every party you do, you just get such a good feeling," said Madison, a junior at Hilliard Bradley High School. "It really makes me happy."

Sydney, a junior at Bishop Ready High School, agreed.

"We are so honored to be a part of these little girls' - and their families' - forever memories," she said. "My favorite part is entering a party when the little girl doesn't know we are coming. The excitement and magic make your heart smile."

The girls formally launched their business, Pretty as a Princess Party, in January 2015. Business has been brisk, they said. They have even hired some classmates to appear as other characters, including Captain America and Spider-Man.

"We just love to be a part of someone's special day," Sydney said.
