What to Wear to Columbus Fashion Week
Three Fashion Week Columbus designers translate high fashion to off-the-runway looks.
Fashion Week Columbus, formerly CMH Fashion Week, is kicking off its sixth year with a rebranding. "It's more approachable," says Thomas McClure, executive director of the nonprofit fashion organization. "[We wanted] more visibility within the Columbus community."
The weeklong series of events runs from Oct. 4 to 10 and culminates with the Finale Runway Show at the Columbus Athenaeum. Nine designers will present their collections, including headliners Stevie Boi and David Tupaz, who've both dressed the stars.
Models don't have to be the only ones en vogue. We asked three finale designers to sketch looks to wear to Fashion Week Columbus. fashionweekcolumbus.org
"The color scheme alludes to my finale collection. It's a high/low skirt, and I feel like the tulle skirt is a classic. I have a tulle skirt, and I got it in Paris. If it's in Paris, it should be in Columbus."
"I love wraps and shawls. I think they're essential for any wardrobe; just throw it over your shoulder. [My collection] has an evening wear undertone. They're very dramatic pieces that you could wear to any formal occasion."
"My men's collection is called RaJul. 'RaJul' in Arabic means 'gentleman,' so he's a professional and enjoys the luxury lifestyle and the finer things in life without having that Armani price tag. They're separates, so you can add your own flair to it."
