As long as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra refers to its December concerts as Holiday Pops, we at “The Fam Five” are going to make some sort of joke equating the title to that bearded, red-suited fellow who makes an appearance at the shows. Santa is just one in a cast of more than 300 musicians, singers, dancers and characters who will fill the Ohio Theatre stage Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. Two shows have an optional pre-show meal. Tickets start at $25.

Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St. (Downtown), Columbus, 614-228-8600,

You’ve literally never missed “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on TV. It came out before you were born, and there’s never been a year when it hasn’t graced your living room. So why not catch “A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage,” with the story, characters and music live and in person? CAPA presents two productions of the show on Dec. 16. Tickets are $35 to $50.

Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St. (Downtown), Columbus, 614-469-0939,

Ready for a fresh take on a holiday classic? “The Hip Hop Nutcracker” takes all of the trappings of the traditional ballet and reimagines it with music by an onstage DJ and electric violinist and a story that finds Maria-Clara traveling back to the 1980s, when her parents met in Brooklyn. Tickets for the Dec. 8 performance are $30 to $60.

If you’re a sucker for tradition, BalletMet Columbus’ signature production of “The Nutcracker” will be held Dec. 7-23. Tickets start at $29. If you haven’t been, make this the year.

This is a cool new tradition that brings a timeless classic to the streets of Westerville. “Uptown Scrooge,” in its third year, is a guided journey with “A Christmas Carol” characters, ghosts included, and features comedy, dance and even some karaoke. It’s like no “carol” you’ve ever seen. It runs Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 24 through Dec. 16. Tickets are $10 to $22.

Uptown Westerville, tour check-in is at 30 E. College Ave.,
