Sausage and Cheddar Muffins

1 pound bulk sausage

4 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick)

1 cup milk

1/3 cup water

1 egg, beaten to blend

2 tablespoons sugar

5 ounces sharp cheddar cheese,

shredded

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line baking cups with muffin liners or coat with nonstick cooking spray.

Cook sausage in a skillet over

medium heat, stirring frequently, until browned and thoroughly cooked. Drain.

Combine baking mix, milk, water, egg and sugar. Mix with a fork just until blended. Fold in sausage and cheese.

Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan. Cool slightly.
