Creepside Festival 2008 will feature trick-or-treat activities, games and hayrides.

The festival is presented by the city of Gahanna parks and recreation department and is set for Oct. 15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Creekside Park & Plaza, 123 Mill St.

"We are finally at Creekside Park," said recreation supervisor Abbey Brooks. "We are so excited. It is a huge step. We are very, very excited about the Creepside festival because it finally makes sense."

Because of the change in venue, the festival is larger than the previous year, when it was held at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course, Brooks said.

This year's event features a hayride through Olde Gahanna, a paddle boat ride, as well as trick-or-treating.

Businesses and organizations will pass out treats on a "trick-or-treat trail," she said.

About 23 organizations are registered to pass out treats, but parks officials expect that number to climb to 40. Last year, 30 participated and many are coming back this year, she said.

The festival features 15 activities or crafts, three more than last year, Brooks said. Participants can try "booling," "digging for bones," the "jack-o-lantern toss" or have their fortune told by Madame Moonbeam. A beading table has been added this year.

Little ones can enjoy a portable gymnastics set. There are a couple of mats and huge building blocks for participants to climb on. Snacks, including popcorn and apples, will be available to hungry participants.

Paradise Island will entertain participants with Halloween hits like "Monster Mash," Brooks said.

The festival is for children of all ages and is free.
