Gadget Spot: Fresh meat

These days, meat seems to be everywhere, even where you'd least expect it.

According to HowStuffWorks, beef (typically in "extract" or "essence" form) plays an ingredient role in the recipes for McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, Wendy's Grilled Chicken Sandwich and KFC's Grilled Chicken Sandwich.

Until some Hindus cried foul, leading to a $10 million settlement in 2002, meat also used to be an ingredient in McDonald's french fries.

Now meat has made its way into the gadget world. Take bacon, for instance. The Neatorama gadget site ( features an entire Bacon Store. In that digital establishment, you'll find eight wonderful gadgets dedicated to, or flavored with, bacon.

On the non-edible front are a $24 Bacon Watch, complete with a faux-bacon vinyl strap and a bacon character on the watch face, and an $11 Bacon Wallet with faux-bacon where leather ought to be.

A $3 Bacon Air Freshener brings a sizzling smoked-pork scent and a $2 Pig LED Flashlight has a tail that's a keychain and oinks when you press the button to shoot an LED light out of its nose.

If the taste of bacon is what you're craving, Neatorama's Bacon Store features bacon-flavored gumballs ($3, 22 in a pack), bacon-flavored jelly beans ($4.50, 60 in a pack), bacon-flavored toothpicks ($2, 80 in a pack) and bacon-flavored dental floss ($4, 27 yards in a pack).

It has high and low settings for cooking a pizza from scratch or simply warming last night's leftovers. Electric heating elements cook from the top and bottom of this gadget's oven.
