Oh please, soon-to-be-former-governor-of-South-Carolina Sanford.

Now Jenny Sanford, we are loving that woman. She is intelligent, lovely, committed to her children and has put that cheating man on notice. After being through months that's right months of counseling, Jenny Sanford has thrown up her hands in the face of Mark Sanford's continued bad behavior and said "enough!" She has taken her children and left the building. In this case, the building happens to be the SC governor's mansion.

She has made a more than gracious statement, in part saying, "We reached a point where I felt it was important to look my sons in the eyes and maintain my dignity, self-respect and my basic sense of right and wrong. I therefore asked my husband to leave two weeks ago."

So that two weeks wasn't enough for old Mark, and now Jenny has walked out from the mess he has made. It brings to mind that old saw, "the personal is the political." How many times have we read and seen, in just the last few years, about a male political figure stepping out on his wife. All too often, there stands the beleaguered wife right beside him. Even Hilary Clinton, all the while denouncing it, took the Tammy Wynette route.

For that reason, dear Pollies, we herald Jenny Sanford. Leave the cheating dog at home. Maintain your gracious self-dignity. A political ticket is a not a free pass for abuse of marriage or women. Get it right, fellas.
