Fall Fest Paint Club -- Mom's Night Out

Join us for a fun night of irreverent painting fun. Learn how to create a beautiful fall piece for the Thanksgiving table without even using a brush! Moms may enjoy paint club once without paying the membership fee. If you wish join us for future events, membership is $22 and includes a T-shirt, membership card, access to paint club only bisque shapes and you never have to pay extra to use our designer line of glazes (a $9 savings every time you use the glaze). Pie Baking at the Stratford Ecological Center

Learn how to make a perfect pie every time with local farmer Sylvia Zimmerman. Together, you'll make apple and cherry pies, using fresh local apples and cherries frozen at their peak. Zimmerman will share her special piecrust recipe and you'll get ready for the holiday season by perfecting your pie skills. Pie Baking meets from 10 a.m. 12 p.m. and costs $10. Science Workshop at Studio J with Simple Machines

Do several hands-on experiments, watch a launch, create molecules, turn a coin into faux gold and create some fun mixtures. The workshop is at 146 E. Olentangy St., Powell, for ages 4 to 12. The cost is $5 per child, to register for the class visit, or call (614) 563-4807.

Thanksgiving Day Columbus Turkey Trot and Columbus Parent Magazine Walk and Talk

As the oldest and largest Thanksgiving Day race in central Ohio, the Turkey Trot has been a family tradition for almost 20 years. This year's goal is to raise over $20,000 for the Central Ohio Easter Seals Chapter. Their efforts to provide services to kids with autism and their families. The Chase Columbus Turkey Trot is a 5-mile walk/ run that begins at 9 a.m. The first 2000 finishers will receive a pumpkin pie. Also starting at 9 is the Columbus Parent Magazine Walk and Talk. This 2-mile walk is ideal for families looking to bond and work off some calories before the big meal. The first 100 finishes get a pumpkin pie.
