Event: Al Capone Speakeasy

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

The word speakeasy generally brings to mind images of gangsters and hooch, but illegal drinking and organized crime weren't the only things happening during the era of Prohibition. For another angle on the '20s scene, stop by The Shoebox this Thursday for the Al Capone Speakeasy. Hosted by Jenai Cutcher's Jam Jam Productions, tonight's event will kick off a new monthly series celebrating the birthdays of famous (and infamous) American icons. Expect fashion, dance and music from the '20s, with performances by Swing Columbus and drag king troupe the Royal Renegades. Pay what you can.
