Columbus After Dark: Eggfast

3:45 a.m.: A few blocks down and around the corner on 12th Avenue, Eggfast has been around for a fraction of the time and draws a fraction of the crowd.

The 24-hour breakfast joint has a steady flow of customers this Thursday, though, including Addison Hutcheson and Aakanksha Marwah, who live down the street and often stop in on their way home from bars and parties.

Under egg-shaped overhead lighting, they're eagerly awaiting their standard order of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. Sometimes, when Eggfast runs out of chocolate chips, Hutcheson will run across the street to UDF and buy some for them to toss in the batter.

Hutcheson calls Eggfast "a mixture of convenience and awesome."

Marwah likes the quick service: "There's always people here," she says, "but it's not a huge line outside like Cane's or Fly Pie."
