25 Things to Do Before Labor Day
6. Eat local
The North Market
During the growing season, selections from local farmers supplement the North Market's normal stock of tasty treats. The open-air addition starts at 8 a.m. every Saturday through late October. Expect the freshest fruits, veggies and organic snacks.
7. Hike under a full moon
Blacklick Woods Metro Park
Naturalists will lead hikers into the woods at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, during one of many night hikes hosted this summer by the Metro Parks. Moonlight will guide you during a leisurely two-mile trek. Meet at the nature center.
8. Play nine holes for less than $10
Walnut Hill Golf Course
Walnut Hill is easy on the eyes - and the wallet. During an early-bird special before noon Monday-Thursday, nine holes cost only $9. The other six municipal courses in town offer plenty of deals, like a buy-one-get-one greens fee on your birthday.
9. Cool off in style
Zoombezi Bay
Water-park technology has come a long way since your childhood, and it's all on display at this awesome aquatic adventure zone. Attractions include 15 water slides, a wave pool, an action river, a lazy river and private cabanas. Admission costs $30.
10. Stop and smell the roses
Park of Roses
In 2006, this favorite city park was named one of the best rose gardens in the world by USA Today. About 11,000 roses of all colors, scents and species line walkways, mounds and trellises. The bloom peaks in mid-June, though things stay colorful for about a month afterward.
