Homegrown Harvest
A new outdoor farmers market debuts today on Ohio State's campus, bringing farm-fresh foods closer to the city. The Market at 15th & High on Wexner Center Plaza will feature about a dozen vendors selling seasonal produce, meats, cheese, baked goods and other items. The market, managed by the Wayward Seed Farm in Marysville, will be held every Thursday through October 28 from 4 to 7 p.m., rain or shine.
"We think it'll be kind of a festive atmosphere," said Karen Simonian, spokeswoman for the Wexner Center for the Arts. "We hope to have acoustic musicians most of the nights and outreach tables" run by student groups and community organizations.
All profits from the market will go to the farmers, and organizers plan to deliver leftover produce to the food pantry at Neighborhood Services after each market.
An added draw for market visitors: The Wexner Center galleries are open until 8 p.m. on Thursday nights with free admission.
