Late last week, Columbus Parent had the opportunity to attend the rollout event to get teams forming for the 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks. This year we are one of the proud media sponsors for this great event which takes place on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at OSU’s Jerome Schottenstein Center.
This will be the third year for the Columbus Walk which raises funds for Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization that funds autism research, a complex neurological disorder which affects one in 110 children in the U.S. These one-mile Walks take place in 80 cities around the country, but Columbus’s Walk (now in its third year) totally dwarfs the others for sheer size (not that we’re competitive or anything). In its first year, the Walk attracted 10,000 people and raised $583,000 (90+ percent of it from non-corporate donors). Last year, it was 15,000 people and $763,000.
It’s a fun event, easy to register for and easy to attend. Please consider checking it out by clicking on this link:
