Now this is a cool family event: EarthDance on Sunday, Sept. 19. It’s the largest global dance event in the world, held in more than 200 locations in more than 50 countries. One of those locations this year is the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.

The idea is to use the universal language of music to promote world peace. The event features a cross-section of musical genres like world music, jazz, hip-hop, folk and reggae, and the crafts for kids include a puppet parade. Among those performing will be DJ Darby Park, drummer Wahru Cleveland, members of Bellydance Columbus, Anne Tull with fire dancing, Israeli folk dancing, Luke the Juggler, Dances of Universal Peace, and the EarthDance Prayer for Peace.

You can join in this Sunday, Sept. 19, from 4-9 p.m. at the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave. in Delaware (it’s the big green-roofed building that, depending on how old you are, looks like either a bird cage or a HoJo’s). Admission is $5 at the door and includes dinner.
