Staff Pick: Beck's Rocks Backcountry Hike

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

The outlier of the Columbus Metro Parks, Clear Creek includes more than 5,200 acres of rugged southeastern Ohio terrain. Doubling as the largest state nature preserve, it's a bold, beautiful home of dense forest, rock cliffs and quiet river bends - a county-operated park with few equals in Ohio.

You can explore it Saturday during a guided 3.5-mile backcountry hike that will lead to a spectacular sandstone maze. It will be tough going, so bring water, snacks and good hiking shoes. Meet at the Creekside Meadows parking lot.
