11. Support your local growers

Columbus Winter Farmers Market

Tomatoes might be out of season, but plenty of local products are available during this regular gathering. Grab fresh cheese, honey, meat and baked goodies Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Jan. 8, Jan. 22, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 5 and March 19.

12. Earn your hot chocolate

Metro Parks Winter Hike Series

Each weekend, naturalists will offer guided and self-guided hikes at one of the 16 area Metro Parks. The walks are usually easy and enjoyable - and the cocoa will be waiting when you get back.

13. Rediscover some old friends

New CMA on New Year's Day

The first day of the year will also be your first chance to see the refurbished Columbus Museum of Art, which has been under construction since fall 2009. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will include refreshments (like roasted chestnuts!), live entertainment and hands-on activities.

14. Spice up your nightlife

The Top's Cappuccino

The famous Bexley steakhouse won't reveal the recipe for its awesome after-dinner drink, but know this: It combines delicious Italian coffee with five types of liquor. Umm, yeah, that should be plenty to keep you warm.

15. Sip some soup

Ying's Teahouse & Yum-Yum

Those who only know Ying's as a pleasant place for tea and dumplings have another reason to stop in this winter. A collection of scratch-made soups are authentically Asian and as comforting as your grandma's best recipes.
