Before his run this year for Ohio's 12th Congressional District seat, Travis Irvine campaigned to be the mayor of Bexley. The hometown candidate struggled to garner five percent of the votes in 2007, but he eventually came out on top with a fascinating documentary about the mayoral race.

The 40-minute "American Mayor" is packed with insight into the political process and is powered by Irvine's endearing personality and undeniable directing skills. The film was a 2010 selection in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival.

Admission to Monday's screening, the Columbus premiere, is free.
