Staff Pick: Geocaching for Beginners

The joke about geocachers is that they use a $100 GPS device and a $500 million satellite system to find Tupperware in the woods. Still, this modern form of treasure-hunting has exploded across the globe, with millions heading out each day to find small objects of little value hidden in unexpected places.

They simply find a cache, write their name in its logbook and put it back. The thrill is in the hunt.

You can enter this peculiar pursuit Sunday afternoon at Groveport's Heritage Park Nature Center, when naturalists will introduce the basics and locate several nearby caches. Bring a GPS if you have one.
