Jeni Britton Bauer's plans for world ice-cream domination are coming along swimmingly these days.

Locally, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is opening its eighth Central Ohio location in German Village. The mini storefront, a former barbershop, takes up just less than 100 square feet at 900 Mohawk St., next to Brown Bag Deli. According to spokesman Aaron Beck, the seasonal location will be open for business sometime this spring.

In the meantime, if you're Downtown and feeling too slothful for a trip to North Market, Jeni's will come to you. Bike messenger service C.S. Courier has added the brand's pints to its food delivery options. Orders are taken through the courier's website, payment is cash only and a $3 surcharge applies.

Beyond I-270, Britton Bauer follows the launch of her first store outside the area, happening next month in Cleveland suburb Chagrin Falls, with the national release June 15 of "Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home." Published by cookbook imprint Artisan, the book will offer recipes for 100 signature Jeni's flavors. It also promises a new method for home ice-cream making that replaces the usual ice crystals with pure creaminess.
