Saks Fifth Avenue at Polaris Fashion Place will host a runway show tonight and appearance by Kimberley Newport-Mimran, president and head designer of Pink Tartan. Newport-Mimran, who co-founded the women's sportswear line in 2002 in Toronto, will give guests a sneak preview of her spring collection.

"I do runway to real life," Newport-Mimran said in a phone interview with Capital Style. "That's sort of how I translate the collection. It's really wearable, accessible, beautifully made fabrics."

The collection includes soft, neutral tones of blush and stone as well as practical pieces, such as seamed tech stretch pants that easily transition from day to night. "I love looking at fashion, but I tend to love the collections that I can actually wear, versus dream about wearing," Newport-Mimran said. "I like style more than trends." Tickets to tonight's event, which runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and includes a cocktail party, cost $40 and will be sold on the store's upper level. The runway show begins at 6 p.m. --Dana Wilson
