Best Reason to Envy a Strip Mall: Kihachi Japanese Restaurant

If you didn't know better, you'd drive right by this little storefront in its forgettable Dublin-area strip mall. Well, most serious local chefs and chowhounds -along with Anthony Bourdain, Michael Ruhlman and a TV crew - know better.

Put simply, there is no more beautiful food in Columbus than the spare and poetic, authentic Japanese cuisine served at Kihachi. Appropriately, Kihachi's brightly lit, stark-white walls provide a museum-like setting for its edible art. Novices should try the carpaccio-like "Sea Red Beef Sashimi" and Fried Shiitakes stuffed with shrimp paste; veterans usually splurge on the multi-course omakase.
