Crew: Fan profile: Yellow Nation Army

For General Juicer and Major Awesomeness, there's no better way to cheer on the Crew than dressed head to toe in a yellow bodysuit.

The pair of Dayton natives became Crew regulars after ending up in Columbus after college in 2001. But it wasn't until last season that they adopted their new guise as the founders of fledgling supporters group Yellow Nation Army.

Inspired by Green Man on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," the duo went online and ordered suits with a base price of $40. They paid extra for eye holes to see the games, mouth holes to drink and zippers to, um, dispose of their beverages.

They instantly felt uninhibited.

"It's kind of like Clark Kent and Superman," Juicer said. "It's like you get your own little alter ego."

They also felt a bit of a draft. Under Armour comes in handy during chillier months.

"It's better during the summer because it's quite airy," Awesomeness said. "The CONCACAF game in February was murder."

Though they're stationed in the Nordecke, the yellow men move through the stadium before games to pump fans up. They've got two extra suits available for anyone to try out.

You don't have to rock the bodysuit to be in Yellow Nation Army, though. They've got T-shirts for those who won't brave the suit, plus membership cards with "name, rank and serial number." Yellow Brick Pizza, Cafe Del Mondo and Buck-I-Graphics are lined up as sponsors. Charity events are in the works.

It's a lot of organization for a group that comprises about a dozen regulars so far.

"This will be the year that we'll make a good leap in that field," Juicer said.

Interested parties need only look for the dudes in the yellow suits.
