Winter Squash Soup at Latitude 41

I've got a cold. My usual cold-curing meal is the Spicy Pork Noodles soup from Ying's Teahouse, but since that's way up in Clintonville and I didn't want to venture far from my downtown office today, I opted for the best soup I could think of--Latitude 41's Winter Squash Soup.

The deep orange soup is made with local squash and pumpkin, some chived whipped cream and toasted pumpkin seeds. It's super simple, but Chef David MacLennan tells me it's one of his most popular cold-weather menu items--likely because he regularly brings vats of the stuff to special events so it's become a signature dish of sorts.

It's a fresh-tasting, herby and slightly sweet soup served steaming hot. Just what I needed to get me through the day. What are your favorite things to eat when you're feeling under the weather?
