Staff Pick: Chill 20th Anniversary Reunion Party
Admittedly, it’s been a pretty trying season for hockey fans in Columbus, but this weekend you can get a reminder of this city’s unlikely love affair with the game.
Before landing a pro hockey team in the Blue Jackets, Columbus embraced the Chill, the groundbreaking minor-league team that played here through the ’90s.
Nostalgia for the team still runs high — they’ve got an Homage shirt, ’nuff said.
Events this weekend will mark the 20th anniversary of the team’s Columbus debut. A video tribute and ceremonial puck drop will precede the Blue Jackets’ game at 7 p.m. Friday at Nationwide Arena.
The official Chill reunion party kicks off across the street at the L.C. at 8 p.m. with merchandise, silent auctions and more. Player introductions start at 10:15, so those with Jackets tickets can make their way over after the game.
Columbus is a hockey town. Don’t forget it.
