Fight over 'Modern Family' star returns to court
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge is scheduled to consider Tuesday whether teen actress Ariel Winter should continue living with her adult sister and avoid contact with her mother, who has been described in court filings as abusive.
Tuesday's hearing comes six weeks after a judge temporarily stripped Winter's mother, Chrisoula Workman, of custody amid allegations she had slapped the 14-year-old and called her names.
Workman has denied the allegations and says Winter is trying to break free as part of a "teenager's rebellion."
Winter stars as Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC series "Modern Family." She has lived with her adult sister since early October, when a judge temporarily stripped Workman of custody and ordered her not to contact her daughter.
The judge has ordered child protective services to investigate the abuse allegations.
